Do YOU show up?
Managing a Club or your business as a PGA Professional or Instructor boils down to relationships if you ask us. Creating experiences to build relationships both externally and internally should be at the top of the list for those wanting to grow their business and maintain retention. But how?
In our experience, the clubs and businesses garnering the most respect and success seem to stick to what already works. This is both good and bad. At face value, the old adage, “If it ain’t broke then don’t fix it…” works until it doesn’t any longer. To us, this isn’t a viable strategy for the long term as it doesn’t plan for entropy which is always occurring. A better plan would be to clearly monitor and update ALL systems, processes, assets as a part of a course of constant and never ending improvement. But how do you do this if you don’t see it for yourself? That’s where Trident Image Group comes in as experts. We help you “see” where you can improve your messaging visually and provide the services if you choose to improve. For example, in golf, we don’t just quit looking at our swing because we can now hit the ball with some certainty, get out of the green side bunker, or break 80. We seek a coach, take a lesson, learn, and put what we learned into practice. This is called Game Improvement and it can be applied to almost anything. As human beings, we have the distinct capability to learn, and with the proper education learning can and will occur if you put in the work. There is always better and it’s up to you as a Club Manager and PGA Professional to ask yourself honestly if you can be doing better, working harder/smarter, and growing in the areas that can be improved.
So if you’ve read this far, thank you. I value your time and mind space.
Over the years, I’ve visited with many, many Clubs and Club Professionals around the United States. And, in all fairness, some were better than others in terms of presentation of goods and services, messaging, and brand awareness. It’s always been strange to me to how some Clubs and businesses commanded very high initiation fees or hourly rates yet the imagery that portrays their goods and services left me wanting particularly in the photographs of key staff and board members. These are people whom are owners or top decision makers in the operation yet their image on the club’s website of them never seems to fit the times or their brand. Poor, harsh lighting, outdated backgrounds, and strange poses lead the viewer to draw conclusions that may not be optimal for you and your brand. You may feel it’s a small thing, but in the relationship business, people are the most important thing at all levels. Do not make the mistake of ignoring this! Take care of this important aspect of your business profile today.
To sum up, human beings crave consistency. Consistency supports trust. Trust enables growth in all areas. All of this must be balanced out with the need for change. Too much change creates disruption and too little change creates boredom. If you would like to learn more about these things and how image matters in your business, we are happy to consult with you and your team.
